Hi my name is Amanda and I lost 78 pounds, up to four months ago, when I became pregnant with my second child. I would recommend the surgery to someone else because of the ease of the program. You still have to watch what you eat, eat healthier foods and exercise, but you don't over eat - you can't overeat and that was important for me. The recover time is really short ... and it was really convenient. One of the biggest changes was a sense of personal accomplishment for me. When we flew to Aruba for our honeymoon, I didn't have to ask for a seatbelt extender, so that was really awesome. I wasn't on any medication before my surgery, but I was diagnosed with diabetes two months prior to my surgery and instead of putting me on medication to control the diabetes, my doctor knew that I was having the surgery, so he held off prescribing medication. six months after the surgery, my diabetes was under control with diet only. Since I had the surgery, I've talked with a number of people about what I've done to lose the weight, and I know two people who have had the surgery and have had marvelous success.
