Hello, my name is Judy and I had the adjustable gastric band surgery on May 19, 2005; just two days before my 59th birthday. THAT DAY CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER. I had a history of gaining and losing weight for the past 30 years. I've lost 100 lbs four different times. Every time I would lose 100 lbs, I would gain it back plus 50 more pounds. I tried diet programs and diet pills. I joined a gym and even bought a treadmill for my home, but just couldn't stick with a program. I finally gave up all hope and stopped trying to lose the weight. I became a physical and emotional wreck. I developed osteoarthritis, bi-lateral knee pain, and severe back pain so bad that I couldn't even stand up. The pain in my hips made it impossible to sit or stand for any length of time. I really believed that I would be in pain FOREVER. I thought there was no hope of ever being PAIN FREE!! The adjustable gastric band procedure changed all that. It gave me the HOPE I needed for a new life and future. I have my health back. I still take medication for high blood pressure, but it is 1 pill not 3. My asthma is now controlled. I can actually sleep at night. I no longer take any pain medication. My knees and hips have stopped hurting. I can stand and walk and even cross my legs. And, I can find stylish clothes that don't look like old lady clothes. I'm now a size L and getting smaller. I have more weight to lose, but now I know I can do it. I have found great support with the Weight Loss Surgical Center team. They are always there when you need them.
